I love the look of a high rise jean with a cropped sweater, but its a little risky for the office. Try wearing a tank under it - just tucked in to the front of your jeans and you can achieve the same look without risking the chance of showing too much skin.

My entire outfit today is from American Eagle!! Remember that place? A friend told me recently she got some jeans she loved from American Eagle so I went and checked them out. I am currently obsessed with their Hi-Rise Jeggings, they such a great fit and inexpensive! (And while I was there I found this adorable top for $35!) I must say I did feel weird b/c everyone else shopping in the store was like 15 but hey I'm not passing up a good pair of skinnies!
Side Note: I was shopping with a friend when I visited American Eagle -- and I joked that if we saw people at the mall with our American Eagle bags in our hand I would say I was shopping for my niece!

I pride myself on going for the weirdest, funniest, strangest costumes I can think of. I'm totally not against girls going for the riskier of costumes, just not my thing. While they are not always the most flattering of ideas they always make myself and friends laugh.

A witch in a sundress with clown shoes, DUH. I think me and my roommates yelled this exact phrase probably 50x that day. In my defense it was a last minute costume party and this was the only thing we had around the house.

Let me first start off by saying this is not going to be a Tom Brady bashing. I am mature enough to admit that he is a good quarterback and the Patriots are a good team.
Okay- that is out of the way now. Here are 5 reasons why the Colts should win on Sunday:
1. The Patriots CHEAT. I don't care that we were going to lose or that it didn't make a difference. They cheated and that is against the rules.
2. I'll be enjoying adult beverages on Sunday and if they lose I'll be really upset and I don't want to end my night like that. (Buzzkill.)
3. Andy will be back and feeling good! (Andrew Luck and I are close. I know where he lives downtown and I wave at his apt when I drive by. I'm pretty sure he's seen me....)
4. So the Patriots understand what the word KARMA means.
5. Because I'm a Colts fan and I hate the stupid Patriots. #ibleedblue

This summer I took on a lot with work, kickball and most importantly a new hair style - the beachy wave.
If you've attempted this hair do, then you know it can be difficult to master. I love the messy and laid back look of beachy wave but getting the look perfected is not an easy feat. I've used many tools to achieve this look including a straightener, small curling iron and a bubble wand. (For the record, I had never even heard of a bubble wand until this summer.)
Since I can’t justify going to the salon twice a week, I’ve spent a lot of time practicing. With a great wand and some willpower, you can have beachy waves, too! Here are some tips to keep in mind:
1. Use a 1 inch wand with no taper or a bubble wand, depending on the wave you want
2. Divide your hair into sections, grab a chunk and place the wand behind the hair in the middle and wrap medium sections of hair around the barrel. Be sure to stay away from the ends. (You want the ends to appear straight.)
3. Always curl your hair away from your face, otherwise you'll end up with curly tendrils
4. Spray and let sit until cool then run your fingers through your hair
And voila – beautiful beachy waves!

I just arrived home from a long weekend trip of sightseeing, exploring and cheering at a local sporting event in Washington D.C.! Granted there was an extreme heat advisory the entire trip and every day temps felt close to 106 degrees. (Why wouldn't it be the hottest weekend of the summer while we're visiting?) In case you aren't aware, I have red hair--strawberry blonde to be exact-- and fair skin, so the heat took a toll on my mind and body. I'm telling you now, the answer to any questions you might have while reading this are yes and trust me I know! Questions like-did she wear a t-shirt every day, isn't this blog about fashion? Or gosh her hair looks horrible and her face is beat red. It was sooooo hot!!!
Here are some highlights:
Traveling: I enjoy flying and genuinely like traveling. We went with another couple, including a friend, Tina. On the flight there Tina, my boyfriend Todd and I were in a row and Tina's husband got a seat across the aisle. I know Todd loved sitting in the same row with Tina and I as we were so excited and didn't shut up the whole flight. Plus we obviously needed cocktails. Enter one of my favorite lines: "Who cares we're on vacation!"
Sight Seeing: Todd and I agree that the best part of the trip was our sunset Segway tour around the city. We wanted a cool (temperature wise) and a cool (hip wise) way to see the city so we signed up! I actually wasn't nervous at all until like an hour before. I figured we'd be a little shaky at first but would eventually get the hang of it. It didn't help that before the ride Todd kept telling me to slow down on the margaritas because they wouldn't let me ride one. Like again I'm on vacation. We arrived for orientation, (I popped like ten breath mints) and the fun began!

Exploring the Past: Todd and I are quasi history buffs, or at least we enjoy visiting museums. So naturally, while we were in our nation's capital we wanted to hit up some tourist destinations. We went to The Archives and saw the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, which was really neat. We also went to the Newsuem-our favorite- which is a museum whose mission statement is the First Amendment. Newsuem houses portions of the Berlin Wall, an area dedicated to 9-11 and one of the neatest parts was a three story map of the world, color coordinated by free press. Only 1 out of every 7 people lives in a country that is considered to have free press, which I found mind blowing. We also went to the Smithsonian Natural History museum and the National Geographic museum.

Watching Local Sports: I love going to sporting events! We planned to go to a Nationals game and I literally couldn't wait! I was excited, not because I like baseball, which is probably my 3rd or 4th favorite sport to watch, but more excited for the experience. I've only been to one other major league stadium, so I was pumped! And you get to drink beer all day long. (Again, we were on vacation.) After my friend purchased the tickets, I quickly began to get concerned about where the sun would be during our visit. I knew I'd be the one in the corner putting on sunscreen but I wanted to know where our seats would be in relation to the sun. As annoying as that is, Tina is one of my besties so she obliged.
We got lunch and drinks before the game outside and it felt great in the shade. We walk into the stadium and of course we are literally in direct sunlight. I immediately had to apply sunscreen and chug water, but it wasn't enough.

I had to leave the seats multiple times to find relief at one of those watering stations where a giant fan blows water on you. I even tried using an umbrella to find some shade. (Temps at the game were over 100 degrees and again, I have red hair.)
All things considered we had a wonderful trip!!! I got to spend time with my friends and my love!
