My parents, Deb and Andy are downtown visiting Todd and I a lot, but normally it is for a Colts game, grabbing dinner, or spending time at our place. This past weekend they wanted to get the "true downtownian" experience. (Or as my mom referred to it as, getting a picture where we can be the "I" of Indy.)
Please enjoy our trip through Mass Ave:
Experience #1 - Earlier in the day Todd suggested we ride bikes to Mass Ave, to which I laughed at because I knew my mom would not want to. I even quoted what her response would be. It was something like, "ohhh I don't know, I haven't ridden a bike in 15 years." I secretly didn't want to ride anyways because it was so hot and I didn't want to be sweaty. So my parents come over and Todd throws the idea out there. My mom's first words were, "oh yeah sure that could be fun." (Ummm what?) Deb did have some issues getting started but we did it!
Experience #2- I had planned out a few stops for our tour of Mass Ave and was excited to take them to St. Joseph's Brewery. It is an old church that has been converted into a brewery and restaurant. My dad loves local beers and trying new places but Deb is not a beer drinker. Her drink of choice is typically vodka so earlier in the week I contacted St. Joseph's to be sure they had liquor too. I was telling my parents and Todd about how I emailed the brewery to confirm their drink sections and they told me my email was probably the laughing stock of the office. (I just wanted to be FOR SURE they had vodka, geez.)
Experience #3- Our next stop was at Ralston's for drinks and shuffle board! And just for the record the girls won!
Experience #4- We had to go by the Indy sign per Deb's request. She made Dad be the "I" and he "had' to put his hands up in the air too!
Experience #5 - Our next stop took us to Bakersfield for margaritas and whiskey!
Experience #6- We dinned outside at Bru Burger for dinner, which is one of my mom's favorite places! It was a short 1 hour and 45 minute wait of course, but so worth it :) I was bad at getting pictures by this point. It was probably due to the number of "experiences" we'd had but here's what I got:
Experience #7- Selfie on the cultural trail during our walk back. We had a blast together! I'm so thankful for the wonderful city I love to live in and my wonderful family! Missed you Dan!
